Who we are & what we do
Wistow and Newton Harcourt Parish Meeting is, in a sense, the conduit for local services provided by Harborough District Council and Leicestershire County Council. We also have the mandate to raise a small amount of money each year, for inclusion in the annual Council Tax, but which sum, called the precept, is entirely for the benefit of the two villages. The decision on amount and usage is taken at a Parish Meeting after public discussion. Our prime responsibility though is endeavouring to assist in ensuring our villages remain ideal places to live and work.
Our Parish Meetings are open to all residents and are held four times a year in Newton Harcourt Reading Room. Dates are on the website. We do hope you will feel able to attend and take the opportunity to put forward matters of interest/concern to you. It will also be a chance to learn of current village activities from the various village groupssuch as, for example, the Friends of Newton Harcourt, the Parochial Church Council, WI etc etc. There is also an opportunity to question our local Harborough District Councillor.
We certainly hope you will enjoy our new website and most importantly, that it gives you information that you might require.Search and browse the site for the information you need and please feel free to contact us with any suggested improvements.
